Designing, Mentoring, and Collaborating at Lendtable

Joining a 3-year-old startup, I did a lot of E2E and redesign while honing our systems. The 25-person company was as big as my last design team; it was a blast being agile and having broader ownership. Outside Figma, I was creating design ops, mentoring, and building cross-functional relationships. I taught junior folks about design thinking, feedback, and how a clean, clear file serves engineering partners.

With fiscal year goals for growth and acquisition, my projects spanned initiatives for:

• Transactions redesign
• Visioning an ESPP lending product landing page
• HMW pivot from B2C to B2B2C with RIAs
• Onboarding redesign
• Getting customers their first reimbursement based on their application

Redesigning transactions

Helping users understand their balances, reducing CX tickets, and increasing retention

V1 was lead by our junior PM and junior designer. It didn’t meet the user need of understanding how fees and deposits added up to a total balance.

That user need guided my redesign. I streamlined the content on the transactions page, added fees, shored up the components, and added receipts for more detail.

Fintech brand landscape

Understanding how others represent themselves across socials, emails, landing page, and dashboards

One of my ongoing horizontal projects is a rebrand. I examined emails, social media, landing pages, and dashboards for popular fintech apps. Know thy competition.

Communications UX

Creating templates, clarifying messaging, and strengthening branding

I’m putting my comms UX skills to work here. All emails and SMSs were created by our junior PM. They met a need, but were unfocused as individual comms as well as drip campaigns.

This side by side shows part of our onboarding drip. I created a template, streamlined the drip from 10 to 7 emails, and leveraged abandoned cart best practices.

Why am I looking?

I loved heading my 2-person design team, but there was no one for me to learn from and I was part of the 50% layoff in early April (c'est la VC money). While it was excellent mentoring and establishing design operations, I know I’ve got more growing to do and the best place to do it is still out there.
